How To Repair The Lungs After Quitting Smoking Using A Lung Detox

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

When I quitting smoking I found that repairing my lungs as soon as possible was essential to my plan. I think the fact that I was doing something to promote my health immediately, gave me something to really concentrate on and made me feel positive about the whole idea.

So as well as quitting smoking I thought I’d try an inexpensive home lung detox. It is designed to accelerate the removal of tar and toxins that have gathered through smoking and so increase the speed of the repair to the lung tissue. It just made sense to me that repairing the lungs quickly was essential to stopping for good.

It’s quite simple to do but is an intense course and works very quickly so if you decide that it’s something that you want to try then be prepared. You do feel a little sick at times and without being too explicit, you do start to remove the contents of your lungs quite quickly. But what a relief it is to know that you are actually ridding your body of these harmful toxins once and for all in a matter of weeks. Apparently to allow the body alone to fully expel these chemicals and tar from the lungs can take between 10 to 15 years so it’s much better in my mind to get this done as soon as possible.

What it told me was that I was never going back to smoking again. There’s no point going through a lung detox only to start smoking again. In fact though, the strange thing is the thought of smoking actually made me feel ill. If I even smelled another smokers smoke this also made my stomach turn a little. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of these ex smokers who preaches to smokers to stop. I fully understand the powerful addiction and enjoyment involved with smoking, but I would personally never go back now that my lungs are repaired and healthy.

So what happens when the lungs are repairing? The main damage from smoking is done to the alveoli and the cilia. The alveoli are tiny sacks which transfer oxygen into the bloodstream. The alveoli damage caused by smoking is quite severe and some believe that it is never fully repaired even after many years, but don’t allow this to put you off quitting. On the other hand there is much better news about cilia. These are microscopic hairlike structures which actually sweep out particles and toxins from the lungs. Smoking paralyzes the cilia and so allows particles to build up. Once you have stopped smoking and the repairing of the lungs begins to happen the cilia start to function again and so strangely enough you may develop a cough. This is a good sign. The lung detox actually brought this stage on very quickly, two or three days to be exact and then fast tracked the cleaning of the lungs to speed up the repairing process. Within 3 or 4 weeks you start to feel a whole lot better.

Tips For How To Fix Lungs After Smoking

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

While it is a well known fact that smoking does incredible amounts of damage to your body in various ways, the good news is that if you are able to quit permanently, your body can heal over time from some of the damages done. You will start to see and feel positive changes in a short amount of time, with many more improvements to come with time. If you would like to help the healing process, you should do a few simple things like exercise regularly, drink a lot of water and eat certain foods. Hopefully this article will provide some useful insight on how to fix lungs after smoking.

It is comforting to know that your body actually will start repairing itself from the damages of smoking relatively quickly. While it will take years, decades even, to return to where you would have been without ever smoking, quitting is the first step, and recovery will follow. After only a few days your lung capacity will increase. After a few weeks or months lung functioning will increase, and after several months your lungs will start to regenerate cilia so they can clean themselves, reducing infection.

While those amazing things will all naturally occur, there are many things you can do to expedite the process. One very important thing to do is to exercise regularly. Aerobic exercise will help loosen up large chunks from your lungs.

It is also a good idea to drink a lot of water always, but particularly after you quit smoking. Increased water intake will help keep your lungs moist, which is important in order for the healing process to occur.

Certain foods will help you as well. Some great ones in particular are those that are high in complex carbohydrates like rice, bread and pasta. They will tie up your extra stomach acids and therefore give your stomach a break.

Coughing And Stopping Smoking – The Facts.

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Just when you are starting to believe that you can quit smoking for good, then guess what. You develop an annoying cough. It just isn’t right is it? Especially when you also have to cope with the bad temper, the terrible cravings the headaches and the sore throat. It’s clearly easy to see why people just throw their hands in the air and start smoking again.

You might be surprised to find out though that the cough you’ve developed is in fact a good thing, so try and feel more positive if you can. There are tiny hairs known as Cilia inside the lungs which are put out of action by tobacco and smoking, but once you quit they then begin to function again quite quickly. Their only job is keep the lungs clear of particles, tar and toxins so they are just doing their job. The by product of this is for you to start to cough.

While this sounds like a good thing, clearly long term, the Cilia not functioning is very bad for the lungs and body. As these deposits gather and remain in place, they effect the prime function of the lungs which is to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream replenishing the vital organs.

During the healing process the coughing should begin to lessen and after a month or so the Cilia should be fully functional again.

You should begin to feel the benefits of quitting smoking within 4 to 6 months and also the increase in the flow of oxygen around the body will start to effect your general health. Your skin will regain it’s glow, your hair will find a new shine, your breathing will become clearer and you’ll generally have a boost in your energy levels.

Learn How To Quit Heavy Smoking

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Do you want to understand how to quit heavy smoking? If you do not then you are potentially cutting your life expectancy dramatically as the consequences of smoking heavily each day can have an all too real effect on health. The chance of developing lung cancer and cardio vascular disease would be very high. Fortunately there are various techniques and strategies that can be used to break the habit once and for all. You may need to try out a selection before you have the outcome that you want.

Initially you will need the correct attitude as otherwise the chance of quitting smoking would be very slim. Only when you are certain that you have the necessary determination should you attempt to break the habit for good. It cannot be denied that nicotine is more addictive than heroin and other drugs, giving up cigarettes is never going to be easy.

A good approach would be to slowly reduce the number of cigarettes you use on a daily basis. For example, if you smoke fifteen today, then tomorrow only smoke a dozen. Each week cut down the amount. Gradually withdrawing would minimize the cravings you would normally feel.

Where do you keep your cigarettes? If you are to quit smoking then do not carry them around with you. Leave them at home and out of sight. Even when you are watching TV or surfing the internet do not have a box of cigarettes within reach as the temptation will always be there to light up.

Are you aware of nicotine replacement therapy? This is a method in which you replace cigarettes with nicotine gum, or electronic cigarettes, that can still give you nicotine but do not have any of the other nasty substances.

You should never forget the cost of smoking. When giving up, keep to one side the money that you would normally have spent on cigarettes and then use this to treat yourself once in a while.
