Sunday, January 1st, 2012

You are sicker than ever and your lungs are finally giving out after countless years of smoking. You may think that you can still carry on but do not be so hard headed. It is certainly time to consider the words that were spoken to you earlier in your life; it is time to think about a future without lungs if that is even possible. You have seen countless propaganda against smoking and you used to laugh at them, but now, who will have the last laugh when you are coughing continuously and wheezing with the effort at the same time. It is probably time to start anew and lead a smoke free life, but you could only do so with the aid of a nicotine patch.

A nicotine patch is known as a transdermal patch that is stuck to the skin and in doing so it releases nicotine in your body in order to lessen the withdrawal symptoms that you would otherwise have without nicotine in your body. It is like smoking minus the stick, the smoke and harmful effects to your lungs.

However, before opting to use nicotine patch in order to quit smoking, be warned before hand of the effects it could have. It may cause dizziness, headaches or trouble in sleeping. Redness or itchiness at the site of the patch is also common. But, once these effects persist, you have to seek medical attention immediately.

It is also wise to see a doctor before using the nicotine patch because there are certain conditions wherein the use of nicotine patch could be harmful. You have to tell your doctor if you have heart conditions or when you have or are experiencing chest pains. Pregnancy is also another worry, or when you are planning to become pregnant.

There are also some things to remember when you are using a nicotine patch, make sure that when you apply anew patch, you have thoroughly cleaned out the old one, there should be no adhesive left because a nicotine patch is also a drug and this could lead to an overdose if you are not careful.

Quit Smoking And Your Health Will Be Improved In 20 Minutes

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

If you quit smoking today, your body will start thanking you tomorrow. Well, actually it will start to thank you after 20 minutes. Thats the time it takes, before you begin to heal.

Your blood pressure decreases and your pulse rate drops 20 minutes after your last cigarette. The body temperature of hands and feet will also increase. The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to a normal level after 8 hours and the oxygen level in blood increases to normal.

Tomorrow at the same time, your risk of a heart attack is decreased. And the day after tomorrow your nerve endings will begin to growth again. Your will also have improved your ability to taste and smell. On day later your breathing will be easier.

In the following weeks and months your circulation will improve. You will also fell that your lung function will increase and walking will be easier. After the first month the nicotine withdrawal symptom will subside, so you only have to think about the psychological need for a cigarette.

One year from now, your risk of coronary heart disease will only be the half as today. This is a very important thing, because in the United States smoking is directly linked to 30 % of all heart disease deaths.

Some of the most important improvements are the long-term benefits. 5 years from now the risk of a stroke has been reduced to the same level as non-smokers. And 5 years later the risk of lung cancer has dropped to one-half that of the smokers. Other types of cancer like throat, mouth, esophagus, kidney, bladder, and pancreas will also have a lower risk.

The risk of coronary heart disease will be the same of people who have never smoked after 15 years. And in many other ways will the risk of death be at nearly the same level of people who have never smoked.

So do yourself (and your body) a favor and quit smoking today; and see your health improve. Just remember that the nicotine addiction healing process is an ongoing process. You will see some quick improvement, but other will happen more slowly.

Nicotine Inhalator, A Breathable Solution?

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Too much of everything is not good–we admit that this statement is really true. Whatever or whichever we are trying to point out to, too much of the things that we needed have been causing troubles by the end of the day. This sentence fits most especially to medications that usually lead to addiction due to over consumption. There are also some sorts of drug that are addictive in its nature, just like the nicotine.

Once you’ve indulged yourself in nicotine consumption, little did you realize that addiction takes place in your body. The releases of many hormones and other natural body chemicals will start to depend upon your consumption, maneuvering you over all body and mind’s condition wherein you will always be craving for more. Increasing such cravings, intake will then eventually increase as time goes by. Affected directly are your lungs and heart due to smoke and other complements of a cigarette ingredient, plus the chemical imbalances in the body’s system due to release of body hormones and chemicals at the same time.

Such nicotine, when consumed continuously, can cause addiction too. Just like other drugs such as heroin, it serves as a stimulant and aides in the release of many types of hormones and natural body chemicals that makes the user feel light, alert and calm. Such deposits of nicotine on the blood which circulates the body within more or less seven seconds after the first puff will cause the body to adjust and be dependent on its stimulating effect. This addiction is claimed to be one of the hardest addiction to break since it seeks cravings within the shortest period of time. Due to these instances, many kinds of nicotine products were made to keep users away from other ingredients that are found in tobacco.

An example is the nicotine inhalator. It is a device made to help smokers quit their habits of smoking in a way that they would feel less of the withdrawal syndrome. Since cigarettes has nicotine which makes it addictive, the nicotine inhalator is designed to contain nicotine cartridges that is replaceable and vaporizes as it is used, without those smoke and other chemicals found on cigarettes. These were claimed to help smokers quit their smoke puffing wherein nicotine is absorbed directly through the lungs but the mere fact that the inhalator itself has the nicotine which makes you dependent on cigarettes makes almost no difference between smoking and quitting. In fact, it was claimed that those who tried to avoid smoking and used alternative nicotine inhalators or patches have returned smoking after six months.

It is quite hard to totally remove such addiction since your body has already adapted so many things that a drug has introduced to your system. It should really start from you, and start from where you should not indulge yourself from getting hooked to such materials. Be aware of your surroundings and keep away from tempting yourself to try out one. Always remember that prevention is always better that a cure.
