What Are The Steps To Stop Smoking?
sponsors
If you convince yourself that it will be difficult to quit smoking, then you will probably be right.
Ask yourself this: Why do the majority of people think that it’s so difficult to quit smoking?
I’ll tell you, It’s the FEAR of quitting.
FEAR that you will never enjoy a meal again without a cigarette.
FEAR of not being able to have a smoke with your morning coffee.
FEAR that you’re going to be completely miserable if you have to go without a smoke for a substantial length of time.
FEAR that those stressful situations are going to become worse if you don’t have your nicotine quota.
With all of that in mind it’s a wonder that anyone ever tries quitting, let alone actually succeeds! But they do succeed. Every minute of every day someone has just inhaled his or her last puff of poison.
The most important thing for you to realize is that you need to remove this fear of smoking. It is this fear that is holding you back and stopping you. You need to know that there is absolutely zilch to be fearful of here. Not one thing. Turn that fear around and ENJOY the fact that you will soon be calling yourself a non-smoker. Embrace it and rejoice! Follow these steps and you will condition yourself to being a non-smoker the second that your last cigarette is distiguished.
“Yeah right…What about the withdrawal symptoms?”
“How can it be easy when I’m an addict?”
“How do you expect me to quit for a lifetime, when I struggle without a cigarette after a few hours?”
This is the fear that I’m talking about, the fear that is actually started by cigarette smoking. You have been duped I’m afraid to say, duped into believing all of those common statements and excuses. Get this right…smoking isn’t an aide to help you enjoy a meal. It also doesn’t relieve stress one jot. It actually causes you stress. it’s akin to wearing a small bracelet which pinches your skin just so that you can enjoy the relief when you remove it!
Ok, ok. I know nicotine is a medically proven addictive drug. I have to acknowledge that. But what withdrawal symptoms would the quitter have to endure?
Stomach cramps? NO!
Hot and cold sweats? I THINK NOT!
High temperature or fever? NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
The good news is that the physical withdrawal symptoms for nicotine are something similar to hunger and being a little bit restless and insecure. And guess what? The longest that these insignificant symptoms will last is about 3 weeks.
So, acknowledge, understand and remove the fear, so that you can enjoy the process of quitting. Do this and you will have taken the biggest of the steps to stop smoking.
